Dance Company - Requirements

What is The Dance Company?

The Dance Company is a group of dedicated, dynamic and versatile young people at the Tricia Sloan Dance Center, who enjoy and love the art form of DANCE. 

The members of Dance Company take several required classes each week building a strong technique.  At the weekly company rehearsals new choreography that includes, hip-hop, lyrical, musical theater, etc., is taught and then performed throughout the year.

Their ages range from 7-18.  

If you love to dance and perform, then you will love
being a member of the TSDC Dance Company.

What is the mission of the Dance Company?  The mission of the Dance Company is to  have each member...
       * fully develop the their dance techniques & abilities
       * acquire the sense of dance and performing ability
       * provide participation in many dance/theatrical programs
       * gain confidence & valuable experience while working
            with professional performers and choreographers 
What is the composition of the Dance Company? TSDC Dance Company consists of 6 divisions:
    1. Teeny  (Level 4,  Age 7)
    2. Mini    (Levels 5 & 6,  Ages 7 & 8)
    3. Petite  (Levels 7,  Ages 8 & 9)
    4. Intermediate  (Levels 8 & 9  Ages 10 & 11)
    5. Junior  (Level 10 & 11,  Ages 12 & up)
    6. Senior   (Level 12,  Ages 14 & up)
What are the requirements in becoming a member?
  • Members are required to take a minimum number of classes per week.  These requirements are based on your company division.

    (NOTE: When taking 2 or more classes your tuition is discounted.) 

        Teeny: (Level 4) 

    • Take a minimum of 1 class per week

          ●  Choice of Ballet/Jazz or Ballet/Lyrical

    • Plus attend weekly 1-hour Company
      rehearsal on Saturdays 12-1 PM

        Mini: (Levels 5-6) 

    • Take the following 2 classes each week

    • 1 ballet

    • Plus 1 additional class from a choice of

      • Jazz Funk, Tap, or Ballet

    • Plus attend weekly 1-hour Company rehearsal 

      • Fridays 6:30-7:30 PM

        Petite: (Levels 7) 

    • Take the following 3 classes each week

    • 1 ballet

    • 1 tap

    • Plus 1 additional class from a choice of

      • Jazz Funk, Tap, Lyrical, or Ballet

    • Plus attend weekly 1-hour Company rehearsal 

      • Fridays 7:30-8:30 PM

        Intermediate: (Levels 8 & 9)

    • Take the following 4 classes each week

    • 1 Ballet

    • 1 Tap

    • 2 classes of your choice

      •  Jazz Funk

      •  Lyrical

      •  Ballet

    • Plus attend weekly 1 hour 30 minute rehearsal

      • Saturdays 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

       Junior: (Level 10 & 11)

    • Take the following 5 classes each week

    • 2 Ballets **

    • 1 Tap

    • 2 classes of your choice

      •  Contemporary

      • Jazz Funk

      •  Lyrical

      • Pointe

      •  Ballet

    • Plus attend weekly 2 hour rehearsal

      • Saturdays 1:00 - 3:00 PM

      Senior: (Levels 12)

    • Take the following 6 classes each week

    • 2 Ballets **

    • 1 Tap

    • 3 classes of your choice

      •  Contemporary

      • Jazz Funk

      •  Lyrical

      • Pointe

      •  Ballet

    • Plus attend weekly 2 hour rehearsal

      • Saturdays 1:00 - 3:00 PM

    ** Pointe class does not count as a ballet requirement but can be used as a choice of an additional class requirement
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
  • The opportunity to work with professional guest teachers, dancers, choreographers, directors and producers.

  • Attend Manhattan Dance Project
          (2 day workshop & performance showcase in Philadelphia).
           2011 dates to be announced

  • Perform in annual Company Showcase at the Pitman Broadway Theater

  • Featured performances in annual TSDC Recital

  • First consideration for roles in all TSDC Productions such as Nutcracker

  • Present your dancing talents appearing around the county in various  performances venues and area competitions.  

  • Gain an everlasting love and appreciation of Dance, one of the greatest forms of live art.

  • Camaraderie and friendships with an outstanding group of positive, dedicated and disciplined young people.

  • Extensive & intensive dance training at extremely affordable tuition rates.

When can you join?
  • During the Fall enrollment period 
  • July 1st thru September 15th, 2010

What is the cost?
What do you wear? Members are required to wear all black dancewear to rehearsals.  Certain rehearsals are set aside when you may wear any color leotard.
These dates will be posted.
When are the rehearsals?

All company rehearsals are as follows:

        ●  Teeny: Saturday 12:00-1:00

        ●  Mini:  Friday 6:30-7:30

        ●  Petite:  Friday 7:30-8:30

        ●  Intermediate:  Saturday 11:30-1:00

        ●  Junior: Saturday 1:00-3:00

        ●  Senior: Saturday 1:00-3:00
