Commitment to Attend: We truly expect your child to
attend each and every scheduled class. Please make this a consideration when
the time comes to join another activity later in the season. Because we
limit the number of children in a class we are hopeful that everyone will
honor their commitment and complete the entire year. Otherwise, you are
taking a spot that could have been given to another child who would finish
out the year. If a child is going to be absent then please give us a call
and leave a message to save us a worry.
-
Make-up Classes: Lessons that
are missed due to illness can be made up at a later date. Please request a
Make-Up Coupon at the front desk. Your teacher will tell you an appropriate
time to make up your lesson.
-
Studio Closings: In the event of snow, ice, hazardous
driving conditions or other emergencies, the dance center may close. Please
call the dance center at 464-0128 to confirm the closing. There will be a
recorded message broadcast if there are any cancellations. These lessons
will then be made up at a later date.
-
Extended Absences/Vacations: For periods of extended
absence due to family travel, vacations, injury, prolonged illness etc., we
can place a hold on your position at TSDC as a registered student, but we
cannot hold your position in a particular class. Please provide us with
written notification of your reasons for the extended absence. We will
re-enroll the student without any new registration fees, on a space
available basis. To remain in a particular class, students must continue
making their monthly tuition payments in full.
-
TSDC has the fundamental expectation that parents and students treat each other, their
instructors, the staff and all adults with kindness and respect. Whether
students attend TSDC to develop self-esteem, to get exercise or to train for a
lifetime in the arts - a professional, polite, and positive attitude is
absolutely necessary by all students and parents!
-
Students will be asked to leave class without credit if disrespect is shown to
any
teacher, other students, staff, or owners. If attitude problems continue then parents will be contacted
and informed of the attitude/behavior problems. We reserve
the right to discontinue providing
instructions to a student who continues to present the improper attitude.
-
Absolutely NO cameras
of any kind including cell phone cameras are permitted in the dance center
without the express written consent of the ownership of the Tricia Sloan

-
Absolutely NO cameras
of any kind including cell phone cameras are permitted at the dance recital,
or other performances of the Tricia Sloan Dance Center without the express
written consent of the ownership. This includes the auditorium, backstage
and dressing areas.
-
Every student must check-in at the front desk for all their classes
for that
day. The student must identify themselves and indicate which classes
they will be attending. This new procedure will enable our staff to learn
every student by face & name. It will also prevent any unauthorized people from
entering the studio.
-
Please call the studio at 464-0128 to inform us if a student is going
to be absent from class.

-
Parent observation weeks will be
held during the year. These dates will be posted and notification will be
made to each parent. We make this a positive experience for parents, students
and instructors.
-
Parents are not permitted in the dance rooms during
non-observation classes. This allows the child to develop a trust with the
teacher. It also eliminates the distractions that occur when visitors are in
the room.
-
At all times, there are 3
closed-circuit cameras, which broadcast activities of both dance rooms into the
waiting area on 3 LCD screens for parental viewing.
-
TSDC uses an effective placement
and level system. Classes are grouped according to the types of dance
offered, the age and the ability of the student. This insures that the
student is placed in the appropriate class. Below is the explanation
of the "Level System" used for student placement.
-
The dance center begins accepting
students who are at least 2˝-3 years of age. For a child age three, we
expect that she/he can leave mom for the duration of the lesson and is potty
trained.
-
At age 2˝-3 the student is
automatically registered into the "Creative or Beginner Level". From ages 4 and above,
the student is placed in one of 12 levels.
-
Students coming from another
dance studio are evaluated by an instructor to determine the appropriate
level.
-
Students in the Beginner level
and level 1 are suggested to take 1 class per week.
-
From level 2 on students may take
as many classes as they desire.
-
Students joining the Dance
Company are required to take the appropriate classes. Please see the
Dance Company policies for more info.
-
Every student will be evaluated
at the end of the dance year and assigned their dance level for the
succeeding dance year. The "new" dance levels will be sent to the students
by the end of July.
-
The ultimate goal of every ballet
dancer is to dance "sur les pointes." However, this goal cannot be
attained without a very strong foundation in ballet technique. Because each
child is different- not everyone is ready for pointe shoes at the same exact
time.
-
Students are permitted to begin pointe work only when the teacher
feels that she is ready.
-
Permission to begin pointe work
will be be based upon the following:
Serious student who ...
| 1. has been taking ballet class for at
least 3 years. |
| 2. is currently taking two or more
ballet classes per week. |
| 3. is past her eleventh
birthday. |
-
Only these students will be
possibly considered for pointe. You will be notified when the time is near and
your ballet teacher will personally fit you with your first pair of pointe
shoes.
-
